The journal deals with theoretical and experimantal research into the physics, chemistry and mechanics of solid surfaces and specifically, into the physical, chemical and mechanical processes in, and the composition, structure and properties of solid surfaces; methods of solid surface studies (electron, ion and molecular spectroscopy, electron microscopy, etc.); surface technology (formation of film and new surface treatment processes, including laser and ion treatment).
     The journal publishes information on relevant congresses, conferences, symposiums and seminars.
