• current ground and under-water volcanic activity, products of volcanic eruptions, structure of volcanos and their roots, seismic, geodesic and other research of active volcanos, forecasting of volcanic eruptions;
• neogene-quaternary volcanism, development of volcanic centres, evolution of volcanism in the context of the history of the Earth;
• petrology of volcanic rocks, the origin of magma;
• geochemistry of volcanic and post-volcanic processes and mineral and ore formation connected with it;
• geothermics and hydrothermal systems of volcanic regions;
• seismological observations, seismicity, physics of earthquakes, subsurface structure and geodynamics of the transitional zone from the Asian continent to the Pacific and other volcanic regions, seismic forecasts;
• the mechanism of subsurface magma activity and volcanic eruptions.
